Our hygienists are trained to assist our dentists in providing the highest level of care possible to each patient. Our hygienists help patients prevent gum and tooth concerns through professional preventative care which is delivered through dental hygiene appointments as well as guidance and advice.

Their most important role is to show you how to prevent future dental problems by taking care of your teeth and gums at home. This includes showing you the correct brushing, flossing and care techniques. Our dental hygienists can help you understand how diet influences the health of your teeth and will explain more advanced treatments that you may need to help you achieve optimal dental health.

We pride ourselves in knowing that our dental hygienists have a patient-centric chairside manner and a gentle touch. They are a key source of information, and we encourage you to ask them any questions that may come to mind during your visit to Meopham Dental Care.

If you have persistent bad breath, or if your gums hurt or bleed when you brush and floss then our hygienists can advise on a solution. If gum disease is not treated during the early stages, inflammation can spread and affect the bones that support your teeth.

We recommend coming in for a hygiene appointment for a thorough tooth clean at least twice a year. This way, we can detect and treat any signs of gum disease before it develops. During these check-ups, we will use an ultrasonic device to remove (scale) food debris, plaque, and tartar from the gum line. We will also hand scale the tooth surface to remove any signs of plaque or disease.
