Dentist Meopham

An apicoectomy is a minor surgical procedure recommended when a tooth can’t be repaired successfully with a root canal. During this procedure, we remove the very tip of the root of the affected tooth.

Unlike a conventional root canal treatment, an apicoectomy accesses the root of the tooth through the gum and not through the crown of the tooth. This gives the dentist direct access to remove any infected or inflamed tissue. The tooth is then sealed with a filling or a crown, so the structure of the tooth is maintained.
